“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything; It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good, just, and beautiful.” Plato
Yes, I love music. I also love to write, so this here page is my way to express both and establish a small corner of the web for my own tastes.
If background is needed: I’m UK (Cumbria) born, and currently holding on for dear life in the Czech Republic. Teaching English, apparently. Plenty of choice for gigs in and around Central Europe; I have Vienna, Prague and Bratislava almost on my doorstep.
I’m not at all interested in ‘firsties’ – I haven’t got the time or inclination to be the first with music news and discovering the next best thing. The UK music press has forced that on us for years, and it’s tiring and pointless. ‘Nu-rave’, anyone?
What I do do is post monthly playlists with Spotify, so if you don’t have it: get it! The writings you’ll find herein vary from reviews of great new albums to live shows and class albums rediscovered. If I feel the need to vent my spleen on more indepth topics (music-related of course), they’ll no doubt worm their way online too.
You won’t find any Rapidshare or Mediafire (etc etc) links for copywrited material here, so if you like the music please: go and buy it! If a band or artist is hosting their album for free then I’ll provide those links; other than that it’ll be Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Bandcamp and other sources. For a full run down of great services I recommend, hit up the links page.
I’m happy to receive submissions of music, writing, abuse and sycophantic praise at:
Happy listening and reading…
